How Much Does it Costs When I Win a Beauty Pageant and Move to the Next Level?

Sunday, August 8th, 2010

One question I recieved recently was from a girl who was concerned about how much it cost after you win a beauty pageant and then move up the competition ladder.

In most systems when you win a title that is a preliminary pageant for a bigger pageant the entry fees are covered. For example the winner of the Miss New Orleans beauty contests qualifies to have her fees paid for the Miss Louisiana. the winner of the Louisiana then gets her entry fee paid for the USA title as the representative of the Miss Louisiana title.

The biggest costs you will incur during your rise to the top is probably in the area of wardrobe. In particular the cost of an excellent evening gown. You really need a top notch dress that perfectly highlights your strong points. I know one girl whose dress costs her several thousand dollars, and she is glad she did after winning the title.

Sometimes winning a pageant entitles the title holder to additional prizes. Occassionally these prizes can include coupons, discounts, or outright price coverage at a dress shop. Check with the director of the pageant you are entering to find out what additional bonus prizes you are entitled to as the winner.

Another expense to consider is travelling. Sometimes airfare comes with your winners prize pak, but not always. Also consider fuel cost if you drive to the event. Even if you do fly you may have car rental expenses.

Most major pageants include many discounts for their contestants. The  that can save you money.director usually negotiates great rates with hotels.

Another expense is for a really good photographer. You may need to update your headshot because you are moving to the next level up and your competition will certainly use all the tools available to them. A fantastic and professionally prepared headshot tells the director and judges that you are a champion.

There will probably other extra expenses that you will incur but these are the larger ones.

Good luck in your endevors to capture the crown.

Hiding Tattoos for Beauty Pageants

Wednesday, July 14th, 2010

You decide to enter a Beauty Pageant and you find out from the Pageant Director that the Tattoo you got last summer may hurt your chances to win a crown.

This can be a problem especially in the swim wear competition where more of you body is exposed. Many judges will take off points for tattoos because they are a distraction from your natural beauty.

What do you do?

There is a product called Dermablend. It comes in three different shades. Find a color closest to your skin color and apply with a sponge over the tattoo. Try two applications to really cover the image of the tattoo.

Then take a loose powder that matches your skin tone to seal it. This should conceal the tattoo for the swimsuit competition of the Beauty Pageant.
.
You can find this product at cosmetic counters in department stores as well as on the internet.

Beauty Pageant Questions from a 10 Year Old Girl

Saturday, May 8th, 2010

Here is a letter I just received from a young girl. I left  the letter unedited to show that she actually IS a young girl.

Hello, my name is Michaela and i'm a beginer at pageants. I am 10 years old. I do not do "Glitz or Glamour pageants.' I try my best to overcome my shyness and accually be myself while modeling. I need some really good tips! I have only done two pageants: The Louisiana Crawfish festival(3rd alternate, Most Beautiful, and Fashion) and The Family Fun Fest in Larose, LA(no title). I have learned that preperation and practice were two things that are very important. I would be very happy if you could send me some tips for casual and formal pageants. I am trying to get a few scholorships for college and I am trying to get togeather some farmilliar pageant words and definitions. Thank you for your time,
Michaela

Hello Michaela,

Thanks a million for writing and Congratulations on your decision to pursue the pageant arena in search for Excellence and education through the Art of Pageantry.

The more practice you get on stage and in Interview Competition, the better your Performance will be.

You are right at the Pre Teen age division. I recommend for evening gown to stick with SOFT colors and clear shoes. You can visit my website http://www.shellyspageantexpress.com for shoes. There is a shoe called Crystal that is perfect for your age.

Keep Your hair down or pulled up half way for both Evening gown and Interview competitions. Use a cream foundation when competing for the total coverage look and pinks and corals for lips. No Shiny Eye shadows on stage, this makes the eyes appear swollen on stage.

I see you live in Louisiana. I have a pageant on June 13th in Slidell that is Open State Wide and it is Evening Gown and On stage Interview Only. Visit my site and click on Miss St Tammany Pageant.

We will be awarding over $14,000.00 in scholarships for Acting and Modeling!
